Contains records of cases involving criminals who served time at the Ohio Penitentiary. Each handwritten entry includes date, name of accused, crime, narrative description of case, court costs, county, and sentence imposed. Also includes records from Brotherton, Kooken, and Company, 1833-1840. James Kooken was the prison's first warden (1815-1822).

Bertillon card of Frank Barger who was imprisoned in the Ohio Penitentiary for larceny. On the front of the card are profile and head shots of Mr. Barger. On the back is a detailed physical description. He was received at the Penitentiary on June 6, 1902 and discharged on July 25, 1904.
